Ana Ivonne Vazquez-Armendariz was born in Mexico. She obtained her bachelor degree on Clinical Biochemistry with honors from the UANL in Mexico in 2009. In 2012, she completed her master degree in Molecular Medicine at the University of Medicine Charité, Germany. In 2013, she moved to Giessen where she did her PhD and postdoctoral training at the JLU. Her research work centered on the establishment of 3D lung organoid cultures for modeling of lung development and disease. In 2021, she was appointed Junior Group Leader of the "lung organoids and disease modeling” research group at the Institute for Lung Health, JLU Giessen. In 2023, she was recruited as Argelander Professor for Organoid Biology of the TRA Life and Health at the Bonn University. Her lab objective is to establish and utilize advanced murine and human immune in vitro models to uncover novel immune cell-specific molecular signalling pathways implicated in disease.
